Abstract: Minister for National Development Lee Chee San has tabled a ministerial motion in Parliament asking it to recognise the importance of ensuring affordable and affordable public housing, while protecting the interests of this and the next generation of the nation, and to support the Government's commitment to both goals.

Disclosing the news on the social networking site Facebook, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for National Development, Mr Shen Ying, said it sounded similar to the motion moved earlier by non-constituency MPs Poon Kwan Kan and Leung Man Fai, but the two were not actually the same.

She said the motion moved by the Forward Party's non-constituency MPs alleged that the government had not done enough to provide affordable HDB flats, enhance the use of public housing for owner-occupation, protect homeowners' pensions or ensure that HDB flats are inclusive.

The government does not agree with these allegations.

The Government has always been committed to ensuring that HDB flats are affordable and accessible, while safeguarding the interests of this and the next generation of the nation," said Mr Shen.

Therefore, the government will once again make this clear to the people and parliamentarians during the parliamentary debate.

And the Administration believes that a separate motion should be moved to set out the Government's intentions and strategy and debated in Parliament.

She said she and her colleagues looked forward to a substantive debate to set out the Government's HDB policy, to refute false claims and to listen to constructive comments and suggestions on how to continue to meet the dream of home ownership for this and the next generation of the nation.
