More than 70 per cent of the pre-purchased HDB flats in Bidadari Newtown have been completed, with all the pre-purchased HDB projects in Woodlands completed, making it the first area in the new town to have all new HDB projects completed. By the end of last month, more than 90 per cent of new homeowners in Woodleigh had received the keys to their new homes.

Minister for National Development Lee Chi San visited the pre-owned HDB flats in Woodleigh Glen, Bidadari Estate, yesterday morning (21) and also visited and spoke to the new homeowners.

According to HDB, over 70% of the pre-owned HDB flats in Bidadari Newtown have been completed. Of the 8872 pre-purchased HDB flats in the new town, 6418 owners have already received the keys to their new homes and the remaining 2454 pre-purchased HDB flats are expected to be completed by 2025.

HDB said Woodleigh, which has completed all 2685 pre-purchased HDB flats including 312 rental units, is the first area in Bidadari Newtown to complete all pre-purchased HDB projects.

Woodleigh Glen, Woodleigh Hillside and Woodleigh Village are the first three HDB projects in Bidadari Newtown to be completed. As of last month, more than 90 per cent or 2,091 homeowners in the three projects have received the keys to their new homes.

According to the HDB's Master Layout Plan published in 2013, Bidadari Newtown is the first local residential area to be created as a "community in a garden", with four distinctive areas including Alkaff, Woodleigh, Bartley Heights and Park Edge, Bartley Heights and Park Edge, with a total of 12 pre-purchased HDB projects in the four areas.

With the completion of Woodleigh, HDB has revealed that Alkaff will be the next area to be completed. Akaf, the largest area in Bidadari Newtown, has five pre-purchase HDB projects with over 4,000 pre-purchase HDB flats.

Four of the five projects have now been completed and the new owners have moved in, with the remaining project, Alkaff Breeze, expected to be completed by the middle of next year.

The other two areas in Newtown, Bartley Heights and Park Edge, are expected to be completed progressively by mid-2025.

Overall, HDB aims to complete 20,000 new HDB flats by 2023. The Government will continue to launch more HDB flats in various towns to maintain a steady supply of HDB flats and to ensure that HDB flats are affordable to the people of Hong Kong.
