Rents in Singapore have risen by more than 20% in the last three years, and rents in the Bugis area have now surpassed those in Orchard Road, and it is believed that they will do so slowly.
If you look at propertyguru and compare the rents on both sides of the street, you will find that the prices on both sides are similar. However, it is not difficult to find properties in Bugis that are more expensive than those in Orchard Road.
For example, a one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment at DUO Residences in Bugis costs S$6,849 per month, while the OUE Twin Peaks near Orchard Road costs only S$5,000, which is about S$1,800 less.
According to property data, the median rent in the Bugis/Metzgeric Road area of District 7 is already 17% higher than the main Orchard Road area of District 9, with rents in Orchard Road at S$7,500 in December 2022.
This compares to a maximum of S$8,900 per month in Bugis.
