New measures to help first-time buyers in the budget to take effect from August's pre-buy HDB sales campaign

Abstract: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Wong Choon Chua announced in the new Budget new measures to help first-time buyers buy their first home, which will take effect from the pre-buy HDB sales event in August this year, National Development Minister Lee Chee Siong said.

In a Facebook post, Lee said the authorities are also exploring measures to reduce the number of applicants who are invited to select HDB flats but do not do so, so that priority can be given to those with genuine and urgent housing needs.

He said he would provide more details when the Parliamentary Appropriations Committee debates the Ministry of National Development's expenditure budget.
