In a post on social networking site Facebook, National Development Minister Lee Chee Seng noted that delays in HDB construction works due to the coronary disease epidemic had improved.
The waiting time for Keat Hong Verge, a pre-owned HDB flat in Choa Chu Kang, which was completed last month, was about two years. It was also the first HDB project to be completed without delay since the blocking measures.
He said one of the projects completed last month, Marsiling Grove, was one of the projects affected by the collapse of main contractor Greatearth. Thanks to the efforts of HDB colleagues and the contractor, the project was completed on time as originally promised by the authority, while the last project affected by the collapse of Gatearth, West Coast Parkview, will also be delivered in the third quarter of this year as planned.
As at the end of last month, 63 per cent, or 58, of the pre-purchased HDB projects whose construction was delayed by the coronary epidemic had been successfully delivered, said Lee Chi-sing.
The minister said the HDB would complete the remaining delayed pre-purchase HDB projects in about two years. He also expressed his gratitude to the buyers for their patience and understanding.
