Responding to a parliamentary query, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for National Development and Foreign Affairs, Mr Shen Ying, said that since the launch of the Home Improvement Scheme in 2007, nearly 4,450 HDB flats had been selected for the scheme.
To date, 102 of these HDB flats are less than 30 years old. These HDB flats were selected for the scheme because they were in close proximity to other HDB flats aged 30 years or above," said Mr Shen.
She said the HDB would inform the municipal councils of HDB flats in their areas that were eligible for the scheme, especially those aged 30 years or above, and invite them to make nominations for assessment by the HDB and the Ministry of National Development when the new round of nominations for the Home Improvement Scheme was launched.
In general, the HDB and the Ministry of National Development will give priority to older HDB flats while ensuring that the Home Improvement Scheme is spread across the island in different HDB districts," said Shen Ying.
