Abstract: Despite the challenges posed by Greatearth Construction's liquidation and pandemic-related delays, the Housing and Development Board (HDB) and construction contractors have successfully completed the construction of five BTO housing projects, ensuring that all works were finished by year-end, providing residents with a perfect living environment.

Due to the impact of Greatearth Construction's liquidation, these five BTO housing projects faced significant delays. However, through close collaboration between HDB and construction contractors, these projects have finally reached completion.

One of the projects, West Coast Parkview, with 697 units, completed construction last month, and 534 residents have already collected their keys.

National Development Minister Lawrence Wong shared photos of his visit to the new units on his Facebook page, expressing that priority was given to completing the building structures during the construction of these housing projects. As a result, some public areas and facilities are still undergoing construction, and he hoped for residents' understanding.

He also mentioned that all final works should be completed by year-end.

Apart from the impact of Greatearth Construction's liquidation on these five BTO housing projects, some also faced delays due to the pandemic.

Fortunately, nearly 75% of the projects have been completed, and the remaining ones are expected to be finished by early 2025. Nevertheless, HDB has been continuously working to ensure that all projects are completed on schedule.

The projects were put on hold in August 2021 due to the financial difficulties faced by Greatearth Corporation and Greatearth Construction. However, HDB facilitated the search for new construction companies to take over these projects, leading to a resumption of work in October of the same year.

Despite the delays, HDB's collaboration with the contractors allowed for only a modest extension of the completion periods, ranging from two to twelve months between the different projects.

The successful completion of the Senja Heights project in Bukit Panjang even proceeded as planned, highlighting the strong collaboration between HDB and the construction contractors.

In conclusion, the completion of the five BTO housing projects has provided residents with an ideal living environment, demonstrating the close cooperation between HDB and the construction contractors. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic and other significant factors, their ongoing efforts ensured that all projects were completed in a timely manner.
